Will these types of requirements make it difficult for new service providers to come up and provide competition?

I think you are right about a lot of your ideas on this. One area where I think I have a different perspective is that I don't think your location matters that much. Maybe if you are a massage therapist, you may only have 1 or 2 costumers in your neighborhood, but with a world wide transporter network, that won't matter. You can get your customers from anywhere.

That of course cuts both ways, as your "competition" (maybe alternatives is a better term) can be any where on the planet as well.

A person in New York can decide if they want pizza from down the block, or transporter to Sisco's restaurant in New Orleans for gumbo.

There will be lots of jobs though. Lots of game makers, holo programers, music makers, artists, designers, "athletes" of all levels, researchers (researching their topics of passion). Lots of competition too. It will be very hard, as you point out, to gain a customer base, for any job. You can really start to understand why some people would volunteer to do dangerous space missions,or be a colonist on a far off planet. Just for something to do and a feeling of accomplishment.

Voter suppression laws would have been put in place on a national level in the last 2 years had it not been for the filibuster. If it is done away with, the next time the political pendulum swings, they will be back on the table with little to stop them.
