You could definitely build it that way, but this Isn't a figure 8, I think you'd never get the lighting quite right if it were.

Ahh, I see what you mean. It's not the method being used here but I have used something similar in principal on some of my other work where I control the depth at which camera rays are fired into the scene, or order to make certain parts invisible.

It's very much solid, but that's an interesting train of thought, what did you have in mind?

Mobius strips have only 1 face and 1 edge, but the wall has two distinct sides and a top and bottom edge.

That was an early version of it that someone posted from my instagram, it's definitely not a Mobius wall!

It's not. I promise.

$20 per hour is peanuts, you're going to hire monkeys. Professionals cost money, even if you're looking to hire people who are fairly new/inexperienced you need to be paying $250+/day.

That's what personal work is for. If you're good, your personal work will shine. As an artist, when you work for free, not only are you doing someone else's work, you're letting people know that you don't value your own work.

The viewpoint is orthographic, but the object with all the angles seen In the animation is definitely impossible, lots of people in the comments saying it isn't but they're going to have to take my word for it :) It can (and does) exist in 3 dimensions, but one of the dimensions needs to be a loop.

Where the promotion? I posted no links on this post, not even to socials. If you don't like my art, downvote it and move on.

Something like this definitely starts as a geometry problem, and the aesthetics come way later. The way I constructed the track with a (nearly) constant separation and only curving around 1 single axis at a time, doesn't allow for the two ends to meet, so that requires some tricks to make sure it meets. Lots of people in the comments are talking about 4D, but this only requires 3 dimensions, provided you can curl one of them up into a loop (which is something I can cheat in software) as for the motion of the wheel, it just follows the track, with a little artistic liberty. I'm glad you like it, and thanks for the comment!

I'm not saying you couldn't get something flexible and twist it into the shape of the path, but no, in order to maintain the separation required for a wheel to roll around and to maintain the correct bend angles, this object is very much impossible.

The track would have to cut through itself. I could get around that little inconvenience because it's animation!

I'm not allowed to post links to socials as per the sub rules, but if you were to google my reddit username you'll find a lot of similar work.

A mobius strip only has one side.
